Not a good night's sleep. My dad came in from the next room at about four in the morning to tell me I woke him up talking in my sleep.
"You were yelling, 'Crocodile not alligator!'" he said.
Fortunately, he just figured it was stress from the insane day I'd had. He was right. But he didn't know half of it.
Time to get back on the wagon with the series reread. This time, we're discussing #12 The Reaction. Allergic reactions! Jeremy Jason McCole (everyone's favorite Jonathan Taylor Thomas doppleganger)! What did you like, what did you hate? In short, what are your thoughts?
Mod note: Sorry for the huge gap between re-read posts. I'm going to be doing them on a biweekly basis from here on out, and I'll do them in the order they were released. So that no one gets caught off-guard for the discussion, I'll be sure to let you know which book will be the next re-read.
Next time: #13 The Change

Rachel's got some pretty strange stuff happening. She can 't control her morphing. One minute she's doing homework, the next she's morphing a full grown crocodile. And- without returning to human form,- she becomes an elephant. That's when the floor gives way and Rachel finds herself lookng up at what used to be the kitchen ceiling.
What's going on? No one's sure, but Rachel and the other Animorphs have to figure it out-quickly. Because if someone sees Rachel's out of control morphing, the other Animorphs and Ax are in serious trouble...
I love this book for the laugh factor. I loved Marco and Jake but especially Marco making comments about Jeremy Jason McCole (No idea why but I read th at as 'McCool' the first few times for some reason) and the girls fangirling over him. (< gag, barf! >
Marco-lllama was kind of funny.
Oh yeah and this is the book with Nice is Neat lol.
LOL only twenty websites? Not in today's world he wouldn't.
Am I correct that he's a take off of Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Home Improvement? Or no?
I wonder, what would be the star power equivelant of Baywatch power now? Interesting that the Brad Pitt thing is still relevant.
However, this book also has the most lame screw up in the world too. How oculd Chapman/Yeerk not see that Rachel was not wearing the alleged furry boots when she walked in? Argh lol Is there a way that plot could have been handled so it could still work?
What about the direct animal to animal morphing? Is that a KASU or not? I wonder if DNA could provoke an allergy anyway...
You know, it would be a lot easier for the Yeerks today, with the internet having progressed the way it has. A revamped Animorphs might be cool just to figure in some of the tech gadgets and such.
Next week: The Andalite Chronicles

#12: The Reaction

Summary
Rache’s got some pretty strange stuff happening. She can’t control her morphing. One minute, she’s doing homework. The next, she’s morphing a fill-grown crocodile and – without returning to human form – she becomes and elephant. That’s when the floor gives way and Rachel finds herself looking up at what used to be the kitchen ceiling.
What’s going on? No one’s sure, but Rachel and the other Animorphs have to figure it out – quickly. Because if someone sees Rachel’s out-of-control morphing, the other Animorphs and Ax are in some serious trouble…
Prompt:
Emotions
Questions:
- Who the hell writes the summaries for these books? This one is even crappier than normal.
- We all know that JJM is supposed to be JTT. If the Yeerk plan had gone through, what kind of effect do you think a pre-teen ‘heart-throb’ would have really had on the public?
- What do you think of JJM and his decision? Besides the basic ‘jerk.’ Is it possible, or realistic? Keep in mind that both of those are different from ‘reasonable.’ What are some other angles and emotions the Yeerks could have played off of to get voluntary Controllers?
- What do you think about the things that set off Rachel’s emotions enough to trigger morphing? Does it say anything especial about her character?
Note: Someone else will have to do next week, and probably the week after. The calendar is still set up through August to keep us on track.
Rules:
- Common sense: be nice, be literate, be mature. If you can’t handle that, we’ll ask you to leave.
- Start on topic. If your conversation takes you into the land of ferrets and their evil quest to take over the world, run with it. But please at least start off talking about the book or subjects at hand.
- The questions and prompts are optional. Do not feel obliged to keep your comments only to what we have posted. They are a guide, a starting point, not a limitation.
- There is no time limit.
- Don’t delete your comments, unless it’s for the purpose of fixing typos.
- Keep your discussion to the current or previous books.
