FYI, if you have Netflix, seasons 1 and 2 of the Animorphs TV show are now available via Netflix streaming. There are a few complaints that small portions are cut, so keep that in mind, but if that's an ongoing issue I imagine it will be fixed soon enough.

And now I know what I'll be up to this Independence Day weekend...

I was channel surfing today and found an episode of the Animorphs tv show on a random channel I'd never heard of before, qubo. It's been about 15 years since I've seen the show this clearly....

Over a year ago, I made this post about the Animorphs TV show. As you can tell by the edits, my memories were a bit... disillusioned when it came to the old show. I decided that I wanted to rewatch the whole series from start to finish with fresh eyes and share my thoughts. Well, it took me a whole year but here I am, ready to share my thoughts with you, if you care to read them.

I found all of the episodes to rewatch on YouTube, so you may find them there if you wish to follow along that way, or just enjoy my reviews on their own. I'm just here to have a little fun and a bit of a laugh at the expense of the show, so I welcome all comments and discussion on this very silly show. Let's rediscover Animorphs, the TV series!

Disclaimer: I am aware of similar nostalgic reviews of the TV show floating around the Internet, like Pop Arena's recent Opinionated Animorphs Guide. However I deliberately avoided watching/reading any of those prior to my own viewings. All thoughts, jokes, comments, and complaints I write down are my own and any overlap with anyone else is pure coincidence, I promise.

So, it seems that the Animorphs television show that aired on Nickelodeon in the 90s is now in syndication on a channel called Qubo.

http://www.qubo.com/schedule

It's scheduled for Saturdays at 9:00 pm. If anything, this means new high quality video that isn't ripped from ages old VHS copies.

So I've been making plans to attend WizardWorld's Philadelphia Comic Con at the end of May. I've been once before (got my picture with Chris Hemsworth of Thor fame!) and was planning this time around because of the large number of Firefly/Serenity actors going this year (going to get my picture with Nathan Fillion!).

Looking over the guest list again, I realized they'd added someone while I wasn't looking. They added Shawn Ashmore (and his twin brother Aaron too), who I know best as Jake from the Animorphs TV show: http://www.wizardworld.com/shawnashmore.html

We can all agree the show was bad, hilariously bad (in fact, the idea of getting to meet Jake means I'll finally watch all the episodes for the first time in years and post my reactions here, something I've been wanting to do for a while but this will be the push that makes me actually do it :P). But even so, even knowing that it was terribly, I still picture those actors whenever I'm thinking of the Animorphs. Whenever I'm watching the original X-Men movies, I see him as Bobby/Iceman but I still think of him as Jake.

So I think I'm going to gather up my courage, walk up to him at the convention, and tell him that he will always be Jake from Animorphs and I thought he was awesome. Dare me to do it? Or, better yet, anyone else want to go to Philly and tell him yourself? :D

Anyone who hasn't seen Texts From the Animorphs on tumblr - which included me until today - you are missing out on laughing yourself sick over the twisted image/text mash-ups they've come up with on this delightfully irreverent blog.

I posted a review for the tv series book "Meet the stars of Animorphs - An Authorized Biography" on my journal. Most of you may have already read it, but it may still be interesting for some of you to read :)
