So after 2 years of repeatedly suggesting and sweet-talking our collection managers and directors, our library system FINALLY (!!!) has the first 7 Animorphs books! They're the "new" editions w/the trippy covers, but *shrug*. Anyways, ( this is my display sign for it: )

The Problem with Victory - Esplin 9466, once Visser Three, has always been a creature of action and when there was a war to fight and an empire to build things were good. Now that that's over, now that there's victory and he's Emperor, now there are problems. AU where the Yeerks win.

So all of the Visser Three and Alloran discussion from years ago that I was reading inspired me to try to write for Visser Three who I believe to be incapable of being happy when he's not tormenting someone. And still obsessed with Elfangor no matter how much times passes. Because really, who wouldn't be? :P

So I just read a blog entry that mentioned the movie Slither. I haven't seen it, but from what I gather the basic concept is slugs that take over people's brains. I was just kind of wondering if anyone here has seen it, and how the execution compares? =)

So I was reading this article on how movies rip off other stuff (beware, the link goes to Cracked.com and it's one of those websites where you'll lose a few hours easily), and they linked to an article on how Avatar might've easily been based on this one short story (I've also heard it's basically Disney's Pocahontas, but that's beside the point).

But go look at the cover for that short story and then try to tell me that you see anything other than an Andalite. =)

(Granted, I see the differences--that creature is built, and has clawed feet instead of hooves, and no tail blade, but...still. Lol.)

What do you think the Andalite equivalent of a guy sucking in his gut and standing up straighter, or a girl playing with her hair, or any of the other myriad unconcious social cues we give out when we're worried about being around someone we admire, would be? I'm not really talking about sexual attraction or flirting, just wanting to look your best in front of the great Prince you've heard so much about.

Of course, if this was ever mentioned in the books and I missed it, that would be even better.

I'm working on some fanfic right now, and experiencing major block at this point. Any and all opinions are vigorously welcome, but please keep in mind that I'm really looking for some decidedly alien behaviors, not just human behavior transplanted to an Andalite body.

Whew. I just finished reading the last of the 62 Animorphs books in less than 2 months! I'd never read beyond possibly book 35 or 36. Now that I am finished, ( I can ask a question about The One. )

Anyways, I'm glad you guys have seemed to enjoy my posts in the last couple of days. I doubt I will post much after this, but thanks for welcoming me and participating in these discussion and keeping this fandom alive!

So...Mary Sue or not Mary Sue, that is the question. I have seen a lot of different reactions to her, although I didn't have any sort of really strong one. I do think a case could be made for the writers going overboard a bit, but IDK one way or the other.

Okay, so, I know I have nothing worthwhile to post here ever, so you guys never see me, but. An Animorphs-centric email was going around, and Lisa referred to the Yeerks as the Evil Yucks, which I thought was kind of ridiculous, and suggested that we had been Disney-fied or Seuss-ified, since the good doctor does tend towards strange names like that. I made a Seuss-explanation for Yeerks by that name to prove my point, and since I am being demanded to post it here:

Hey guys!

Um, I'm not the greatest at introductions, but... hi. I'm Jae. Obviously I like Animorphs, they were my absolute favourite books in elementary school. I'd order through scholastic every month XD Still have almost all my books too. The recent fanart/fic contest really got the nostalgia going in me, and I have been churning out bits of fanart inbetween mountains of homework whenever possible. The way I figure, if I should share anywhere, it should be here.

I really, really like drawing Andalites.

Pretty simple stuff so far, since I'm still trying to find a style I like for these guys. There will always be weird things about the design I think, due to the general weird nature of their anatomy, but I like this look best so far. THE ANATOMY COULD PROBABLY WORK. KINDA. I'll try to get some dynamic stuff out soon.

LJ is really really foreign to me, so uh, hope I did everything alright. If the pictures are too big, let me know.

So I was cleanin' out my room getting ready to move for university when I found some old sketchbooks from the past few years. And in them were a whoooole bunch of Ani-sketches. <3 As I've been persuin' a career in illustration, these characters have sorta served as guinea pigs when my own characters don't wanna cooperate...

Soooo I scanned 'em, cleaned 'em, and smooshed most of 'em together into one giant image.

I'm a very new Animorphs fan - didn't know much about the books at all until last year, when I fell into it all backwards and read all the books in the main series at breakneck speed - and loved them!

I've been really impressed and inspired by the fanart posted on this comm, and now there's something I'd like to try making myself. If it works, I'll post it here and if it doesn't... I'll be very quiet about it :(.

But I need some help with what we know about what Andalites look like! I know they get much the same general description in most of the books, but do any of the books have a particularly detailed description? And do we know anything about whether Andalites are the same shade of blue all over, and what blue is it - sky blue? Navy blue? Violet-blue or turquoise-blue maybe? Do they actually have different hues of blue, the same way that, say, horses or cats - or humans indeed - have different coat colours or skin tones or complexions?

I hope this doesn't sound like nit-picking! If there are no canon answers to these questions I don't mind making them up, but if there are specific details I really want to get them right. Unfortunately, I tore through the books so quickly, while I can remember mist of what happens pretty well, I'm rubbish at remembering 'where' some scenes and descriptions happen!

I'm also trying not to have my mind's-eye image of what an Andalite looks like influenced by the TV series, as I'm not sure I found their version terribly convincing!

If anyone can steer me towards detailed descriptions - or let me know that we just don't know some of this stuff - I'd be really grateful!

They were only in one and two books respectively, but I kinda enjoy HBC. It could even be said to have some similiarities to Avatar, no? Granted, Aldrea's re-apperance in The Prophecy isn't very popular. It's interesting that after being a nothlit for so long, she didn't seem to ID as Andalite anymore...I guess that's only natural.

And, sorry I often don't have longer thoughts, it's hard to remember everything sometimes LOL. At least you guys can expand on things most of the time.

Comcast decided to be a pain and go down in three states last night;, incuding here, so I didn't get to do anything :(

This is one of the characters I really don't envy LOL...I would NOT want to be stuck as a Taxxon forever. But I like the way he came back to help with the rebellion in the end. Too bad he got killed in the aftermath though :(
