Having seen this review, I'm pretty damn sure I never actually watched this whole episode back in the day on Nick-- just enough of it in clips for the shipper in me to flail a bit when you cut out the scene when Rachel hugs Tobias. (Which, grant it, better in the books when Tobias freaks out because someone is grabbing him when he's used to being a bird at this point.)
Rachel originally got into gymnastics in the books because it was her dad's thing when he was younger-- I think I always just head!canon'd that he knew this coach from his golden years of gymnastics. (And the hiking/gymnastics/Naomi not being involved with Dan asking Rachel to move across the country with him makes a lot more sense in context of the books in which Rachel is clearly shown being her father's daughter emotionally more than her mother's. Also makes the mirror hair check thing kind of adorable in retrospect lol.)
Wasn't future!Rachel supposed to be a lot less conventionally model pretty? No make-up etc? Do they even discuss in the tv show future!Rachel cooking and eating Tobias in that timeline? Because that comment really stuck out to younger!me for some reason.
All in all- agreed that book was worlds better. Thanks for posting!
I'm just gonna go ahead and pretend that the guy failing at handling Rachel's assets in the start is Tobias learning to be human. :P
Totally agreed on the lasso rant, and that this should have been a two-parter. There was too much to cover in a half-hour show. And not only should Ax have taken all the cowboys down, but Tobias should have heard them all coming!
Also, why didn't the Yeerks turn Ax into a controller? Here they finally have a captured Andalite, and instead of quickly granting the control to the next in command to Visser Three, they stash him in a truck? I don't think they emphasized on how crucial it was to rescue Ax. Had they failed, it would have been a complete game changer... in the books anyway.
Keep the reviews coming. You're doing a great job on these. :)
I loved the lasso rant so much. There are so many stupid things in this episode...They had Visser Three randomly morph to human all the time, but the actor that played him was actually more intimidating than the Andalite puppet, so maybe that was a good thing?
OMG, these reviews are so funny. I just started to watch them (mainly b/c I can't find the whole eps anymore) and I like them a lot! Looking forward to the next one.
