Aww thanks, I no longer follow F!S so I appreciate it when people pick out and link me secrets of interest! ;) Although lol tome the Ani kids still look a bit old for HS...
Older? Maybe. Although one of my brother's friends was routinely mistaken for a parent (grew a beard on a dare because he could lol), so people's ages may be a mileage may vary thing. I think the secret maker was trying to make more of a point that the Ani-cast looked more "average" vs. like they live their lives waiting for a photo-shoot?
I had forgotten to comment on that when I saw it. I have a soft spot for Animorphs!Secrets besides the obvious reasons, since it was from F!S that I found this comm!
And the secret is totally right. I do love how they actually look like real teenagers.
Sort of! There was some sort of Animorphs secret and a discussion grew in the comments about how awesome it was, and someone from the comm pointed us all in that direction.
I'm so glad they did, too. I had done a reread of the series about a year previous, and it's always been one of my great loves. It's great that there's an active community to talk about things.
I totally love when Animorphs is mentioned and a whole bunch of people that generally never have it mentioned anywhere else in fandom that they've ever even *read* the series get in on the love-- "grown-up" closeted fans ftw! ^_^
Haha, it wasn't even so much that I was "closeted" as I didn't really know what "fandom" was when I was really into it in middle school. Didn't get a chance to spread my wings on it until I found an actual active comm (this one!) completely by accident.
But it is fantastic when I meet other people, especially IRL, who are into it.

No kidding! I am constantly sad that my boyfriend and I are *just* far enough apart in age that he knows what Animorphs is but the series was over and he read Everworld instead (which I never read because I had moved on to more y!a books).
they never use actual teenagers to play teenagers because they have to obey child labor laws. Kids can only work like 6 hours a day.
idk, I worked on one movie where there was like one kid under 18 and she was in like two scenes, and a very large percentage of the production schedule revolved around the fact that she was under 18. When you can hire young-looking 18-24 year olds to play teenagers, it just makes it a lot easier/cheaper to film your work and adhere to the law.
this is actually part of the reason I'm so impressed with the Game of Thrones adaptation. The shrewd thing to do (which would have also totally ruined the story) was to make it about the adults, even though it was always kind of about the kids. I'm glad the creators resisted that urge and really let us get to know Bran/Arya/Sansa, even though I think Britain's child labor laws are more strict than the US's.
