"We never should have done it. But we needed a break. You know, some time off from the superhero stuff. A chance to act like normal kids. Well -- as normal as four kids who can morph, a hawk, and an alien can be. Everything should have been cool.

Now Rachel is missing. And there's this...this thing that's after us. But it's not up to me to tell the whole story. Tobias, Cassie, Marco, and Ax were there, too. Even Rachel has some info to add. So go ahead and check this out. And remember not to tell anyone what we're about to tell you. It could mean the difference between life and death. Or worse..."

And now we go back in time (okay, back in time by only one book, but still) to look at Megamorphs #1! We're also doing something new - to start off the discussion, I'm linking two of the other revies of #8 already floating around the net (if anyone know of any other good ones, tell me and I can include them too).

Hey, Greg aka Pop Arena here. For those who don't know, I've been doing video reviews of Animorph books over on Youtube, and I figured this would be a good place to post updates. As a special Christmas gift, I just finished my review of Megamorphs #1 The Andalite's Gift:

So here we have the first special book, the first Megamorphs.

The amnesia idea was a good one...exploring how someone would react to waking up like Rachel did. I often wonder though if people really do get amnesia as easily as they do on TV and in books.

i also wonder if they'd really have gotten down from two miles up without passing out or something. (how high do skydivers go? I'm not sure)

The Veleek has a bit in common with the Nesk, the whole many organisms working as one thing.

I'm having a hard time coming up with good questions, but I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on it.

One possible question...why do things seem to go bad every time they try to have a moment of normalcy?: Is it like a reminder that they aren't normal or something?

Love Tobias telling Marco to stand under his branch.

What was the sticker that was with this one? Anyone got a screenshot? It's long gone from this copy. If it was even there when they got it since it's one of those library 'turtleback' versions. (means the outer cover is stuck to a hardcover that the rest of the book is then glued to. Supposed to protect it more I guess)

Next week: #8, The Alien

Summary
Wikipedia entry

Prompt:
Introducing…ALIENS!

Questions:

None this week.

Notes:
Sorry for the delay and thank you to [livejournal.com profile] buffyangellvr23 for reminding me. Had some computer issues and forgot all about it. Like I told him/her, if I don't get a post up over the weekend, anyone else is free to make the post. I promise not to even be annoyed. ^_^

We return to our regularly scheduled books this weekend with #8 - The Alien.

Rules:
- Common sense: be nice, be literate, be mature. If you can’t handle that, we’ll ask you to leave.

- Start on topic. If your conversation takes you into the land of ferrets and their evil quest to take over the world, run with it. But please at least start off talking about the book or subjects at hand.

- The questions and prompts are optional. Do not feel obliged to keep your comments only to what we have posted. They are a guide, a starting point, not a limitation.

- There is no time limit.

- Don’t delete your comments, unless it’s for the purpose of fixing typos.

- Keep your discussion to the current or previous books.

Quick question:

Where in the Animorphs timeline does Megamorph 1 take place? Like, which regular book is it after/before? Thanks so much.

(I'm starting to feel guilty. I've been using this community as my personal fact-check service. But y'all are so knowledgeable!)
