What happens when you cut an Animorphs book in half and put into a short story about the Civil War? Not much, actually.

What might have been cool is if the campers had been a bunch of Marines or Navy people from the local base. It could have tied in to the previous book nicely. Especially if one of them had recognized Marco as the kid from TV who'd been horribly murdered.
