Character Discussion Rachel and Marco

I love these two together, how Marco always wants to date Rachel, or at least joke about it, and Rachel gets back at him with cracks that make it look like she doesn't like him, even though she really likes him as a friend. (just not the other way).

i think they have a respect for each other, but she finds him annoying many times. One of those adversarial friendships in a sense...fighting sometimes but working together when it counts.

Anyone else think they might've gotten the love/hate to work as an actual relationship, maybe, if Rachel had never met Tobias?

(Don't get me wrong. R/T is my OTP. But there's definitely something there.)

But yes, I do agree. If Tobias hadn't been in the picture, I think Marco and Rachel definitely could have been possible. Hell, it *was* possible in MM4. Personally I get the feeling that if they have ever dated for real though, it would have eventually ended in a giant and glorious train wreck XD

I went through my regular flist routine when I finally got through. There was just more of it, lol.

Yeah, I could see them as the couple that provides soap opera entertainment to the entire high school by having repeated spectacularly public break ups and then getting back together, but you figure actually really do like each other because they've been dating consistently for years, but eventually they grow up enough to figure out that sparks and chemistry =/= sound relationship base and break up for good (but hopefully remain friends).

Hah, I'd never thought that they might be the 'constantly break up then get back together' type before, but I can see that happening XD. Oddly enough though, what you describe kinda (particularly about them eventually just ending up as friends), reminds me of what actually happens with them in the books. Sure, they never actually dated or anything, but you did start off with Marco having a crush on Rachel at the beginning but by the end that had gone away.

Ugh if livejournal hadn't been sucking so much lately (sometimes it wont even load) I would have written an entire novel about the relationship between these two. Their interaction is some of my favorite in the entire series.

They have such good snark and banter. There is a level of animosity between them, and also an understanding. Sometimes they can't stand each other, and sometimes they are the only two who can see eye to eye. They were often on the same side of any moral issue, since they both understood what was necessary, and they were both ruthless.

Idk, I am not saying all I want to say. Maybe I will come back and write more. I just love these two so much. My favorite characters for sure, and when they interacted it was even better.

They did have some incredibly epic snark and banter. One of the most memorable to me was when Marco was in a rush to demorph "before he got stuck walking around on his knuckles and eating bananas forever," and Rachel was like "Um, how would that be any different?" XD
