I have three drabbles for ya'll!
Angel is a Loser
Tobias was scowling at the TV. Specifically, he was scowling at Angel on the TV. Bird-boy wasn't big on scowling, since that required him to make an effort at facial expressions that wasn't rolling his eyes at me.
Obviously, this meant that he was really bothered. I picked up the remote and paused the recording and was about to say something clever. But Tobias beat me to it.
"Angel is a jerk."
<I think he thinks it's honorable to end their courtship,> Ax said.
"It's because he's a loser and a coward," Tobias snapped. He sounded like he was a step away from exploding.
Torture changed him.
That meant it was a bad time rip on him. Jake would get Cassie to say a few choice words to make me feel guilty and Tobias might mention it to Rachel. Who may have no issues stomping me in her elephant form. The last of her sanity tends to snap when her boyfriend is involved.
"Moving on to season four," I said, lifting up the remote to press play.
-
Fuck Metaphors
"Got any ideas of what we'll tell Jake when he gets home from school?" Tobias asked.
Rachel gave him a coy grin, moving over him and snatching up his wrists. Her hair slid down her shoulders and brushed against his face. "Let's not talk about my cousin right now."
"I thought we were taking a break right now," Tobias said, twisting his face what he hoped was a sleepy expression.
Rachel laughed, soft and dangerous, the only type of laugh she still knew how to do outside of battle. She leaned over the side of the bed and picked up silk scarf and slid back over him to kiss him. She didn't taste of blood and her movements were gentle as she began to expertly tie Tobias' wrists into long familiar knots with the scarf.
And then her alarm clock beeped, signaling five minutes until his two hours were up.
"Fuck," Rachel said as Tobias demorphed and morphed as fast as he could.
-
Free
After noticing the time on his alarm clock, Tobias abandoned the shoelace he'd been playing with. The power he felt coiled in his hind legs as he jumped onto his nightstand and landed with easy grace made him feel brave, alive.
Free.
He knocked over the alarm clock. The sound of it crashing against the floor was satisfying. Disappointingly, as a cat, he couldn't smile.
He settled with jumping to his bed and curling up on his pillow. He closed his eyes, and wondered what it would be like to dream as a cat.
Elfangor.
With regret, he began to demorph.
