Character Discussion: Cassie

Here goes...the character who often seems to get the most negativity, and sometimes it's for good reason. I know my LJ folder is gonna be swamped this week, but I'll turn you loose anyway LOL

I do like the animal loving part myself...but there are things that some of you say about her that I can see as well...both positive and negative.

I think more people are speaking up for Cassie though, at least in this community. There are still going to be people who dislike her - she is a polarising character - but we've had more people talking about what's good about Cassie, and pointing out that it is the Ghostwritten books that let her down.

Personally, this is why I hope that th re-release does do more than a superficial edit. I would love, love for KA to actually go and fix up all those problems with Cassie in the ghostwritten books, and bring her back to the character she was meant to be.

This community is better than others, though this community is also doing better than it used to. There were a few points where I was ready to leave, because I was like "wow, fandom is supposed to be fun, I don't have to deal with this stuff in my free time" etc. And as I said in another comment above, I think most people realized how stupid the whole Cassie sucks! vs. Cassie doesn't suck! debate was when the Cassie is Awesome post was made awhile back. I think the people who don't like Cassie realized that they were coming off differently than they realized, and the Cassie fans realized they weren't alone.

I have no problem with people disliking her and I understand the arguments. And yes, if K.A. does a massive revision of the plots to fix Cassie I think everyone, Cassie lovers and haters and everyone in between, will be happy.

She is indeed awesome! As I just said in another thread, the problem with Cassie isn't her, it's how she was handled. Actually, I think most people seem to agree that the ghostwriters suck :P But it makes it tricky, because it means that in order to appreciate Cassie fully, you have to realise why and where she gets let down, and see that it's the writers who are bringing her down. It's kinda like everyone coming to hate a character because they're always portrayed ridiculously badly in fanfiction or something.

Ooooooh I am so hoping for a massive revision. Cause really, they're already updating them - I think if you're going to make changes, you might as well make changes and not just change the word cd to dvd.
