Here goes...the character who often seems to get the most negativity, and sometimes it's for good reason. I know my LJ folder is gonna be swamped this week, but I'll turn you loose anyway LOL
I do like the animal loving part myself...but there are things that some of you say about her that I can see as well...both positive and negative.

David babble? Yes please
Date: 2010-09-27 09:43 pm (UTC)This is an interesting point, and I'm sure there's a psycho-babble name for people that do this because IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. (Dumbledor-ish, in a way.)
That and there's the added guilt that she is obviously the only Animorph David trusts and is ergo the last one he would suspect to pull something like this on him. (He buys the 'Rachel did it!' side of that hook, line, and sinker, right?)
And then she goes and condemns him to a fate (depending on who you ask, and he certainly seems to think so) worse than death... For his own good. That's COLD IMO.
clearly we need a discussion for him too at some point
Date: 2010-09-27 10:13 pm (UTC)He trusts her because she's that kind of person who always seems trustworthy. And also I imagining that in sympathising with him, Cassie also gave the impression that she agreed with him, when that wasn't the cast.
And that decision's an interesting one - because when you think about it, it's rather similar to the euthanasia debate. On the one side, the view that life is the most important thing and must be preserved. On the other side, the view that quality of life is the most important thing and that if quality of life is so low that it's unbearable, life should be discontinued. Cassie clearly goes on the side of life is the most important things, whereas in this case David (and many of the readers), lean more towards the quality of life side of things.
Also this was a children's series, and who knows maybe having a bunch of teenagers kill another teenager who was actually one of their group for a short period of time when they're the 'good guys' would be a bit much :P

Date: 2010-09-27 10:22 pm (UTC)What? No! ROFLing for REALZ YO
My point was supposed to be 'Cassie and Dumbledore both manipulate people for their "own good" and this is serious business' but oh well. ;) ;)

Date: 2010-09-27 10:47 pm (UTC)although she couldn't have demorphed - obviously she went and acquired some wizard, realised he had ~*magical powers*~, and decided to become a wizard nothitThis part isn't ROFLy, so I insist on responding seperately

Date: 2010-09-27 10:41 pm (UTC)Though really, who knows? Sometimes these things can be awfully arbitrary about what is and isn't acceptable. I mean, ridiculous levels of violence are apparently okay but apparently we can't talk about sex!

Date: 2010-09-28 03:20 am (UTC)This is a good point. I think we've all had conversations like these, where we understand where someone's coming from, but by saying "yes" and "I see" lead them to believe that we also think they're right. I never thought about it that way with Cassie and David.
