Now this guy had a lot of complications all the way through...mostly it was the "my mom is Visser One" stuff, but then toward the end there was the whole love triangle thing. I wish they had explored it more in the last book.

I do like how he always coped with humor...even if not all the jokes were funny lol

God, if I could draw I'd probably have with that option. And fanart's out of the question, because when you have a character that's had both short and long hair and has been described as having brown hair but appears on the cover with black hair GOOD LUCK GETTING ANY KIND OF CONSISTENCY sob (and eh, you can just pretend Marco looks young for his age. HE'S SHORT, CLEARLY THIS MEANS PEOPLE SHOULD MISTAKE HIM FOR BEING 10)

Yes, god forbid that asian characters be played by asian actors. *rolls eyes forever* And no, I haven't - I'm afraid I don't know who Donald Glover is, actually. (Are they making another Spider-Man movie?)

...Dude, that's awesome. I'm looking at the app process right now. Though if I thought it was hard finding a PB for a Hispanic kid, I can't wait until I'm looking for a PB for a middle-aged Hispanic woman who isn't Penelope Cruz/Salma Hayek.

I always figured he just had really dark brown hair. Could look black or brown in certain lights, I guess. When I draw I usually draw his hair much darker than Jake's.

Yep, they are making a new movie. Donald Glover is this sexy bitch:

And he has an internet campaign going to play Spider-Man ever since Marvel released information that the shortlist for their new Spideys were all white folks. Glover's already a proven actor in the series Community and other TV roles and he is generally awesome.

However, comic boards on the internet have exploded with race-wank ever since he started this campaign, being all "it's not distracting to whitewash but it's totally distracting to blackwash!" and all kinds of HURF DURF stupidity.

Main things to note about the game is that it's log-based, and that apps are every...two months atm, I think. Also, after this next podpop, I beleive we're going to invite-only, since the game's gotten large and the mods want to limit expansion so that plot can get underway. (though if you decided not to app but then decided you wanted to app later, I'd be happy to give you an invite then :P) Next podpop is the end of this month I believe, soooo you'd have until then to think about it and read over things :P

Either way, it means that the fanart depictions are ALL OVER THE PLACE. The others at least generally look at least somewhat similar. Marco? NOT SO.

And oooooh, that is one good looking dude. (And I can understand them going "Spidey should be Caucasian, because...Spidey is Caucasian, but that is argument is stupid. Object on the basis of the race being a part of the character's identity, not because BLACK PEOPLE ARE DISTRACTING

I'll heavily consider it. I love my current RP journal but DM is really slow and I could use something more thoughtful on the side to balance it. And god DAMN do I miss writing Eva, I mean seriously.

You could make a really good argument that Spidey's whiteness means jack shit for his identity, too. Though possibly it's because Caucasian is the default or something IDK MOSTLY I JUST WANT TO SEE MORE DONALD GLOVER IN TIGHTS ALRIGHT.

Caucasian does tend to be the default, and just because it's ubiquitous doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't function into a character's identity. The dominant culture is still a culture.

Though, not being that knowledgeable on comics I could say how much this would be the case for Spidey in particular. AND THAT IS INDEED SOUND REASONING.

Haha, I remember the days when I used to write characters who weren't Eva, Marco and/or Howard Bassem. Those days were...a long time ago. Like three months, really.

Oh, I'm not saying there's no such thing as white culture, just that I really don't think there's anything to Spider-Man that really necessitates white culture, and people only assume he Must Be White because that's the default in their mind and anything else would actually make them think. If I'm making any sense.

Howard Bassem is a side character from Michael Grant's Gone series, and along with Orc and Albert, easily the coolest character in the series. Though you could make a strong argument that he's really just a more self-interested Marco expy. He gets no love besides from me, though.

The best thing about Howard is that he's pretty much Marco, except his relationship with Orc is kind of like Black Tom Cassidy to Orc's Juggernaut, so it's like he's a combination of my favorite characters from Animorphs AND X-Men!
