Okay, so maybe not a real Veleek, but I imagine that this is something like what it would look like should it exist. Not quite the tornado idea, but a single organic mass flowing about and every now and then focusing in on something would definitely look something like this :D

I guess for a discussion prompt: have you seen anything recently, be it a person, animal, or phenomenon, that reminded you of Animorphs somehow? I know I've seen some oddly-shaped clouds that I liked to believe that the cloaking device of the Blade Ship was distorting them.

HOLY SHIT

That is exactly how I imagined the Veleek when I read Animorphs :D

And is it just me, or whenever you see a slug do you think that it's a Yeerk? |D

Oh man, I saw that once. Hundreds of red-winged blackbirds did just that when my mum and I went to a local field (well... vet school grounds, haha.) They'd been eating what was left of the year's crops and as we walked in, they rose in great waves and swooped around above and around us, and dove off towards patches of land occasionally. It was really awe-inspiring to see it in person - like something out of a Miyazaki film, with the sun dimming and everything. Didn't even think of a Veleek!

As for being reminded of Animorphs, every so often I'll watch the hawks that live nearby and on warm days I will remember Tobias' lessons about thermals and soaring :P

And of course, there's a blue scorpion deer centaur living in the woods near my house. I've been calling him Ax. Think he likes it!

and I forgot to mention....thanks for posting that video...it was beautiful :-D

As for Animorphs related content...the most I can say I've seen is a hawk. And hawks being mobbed by crows (Rachel, as an eagle, was mobbed by some kind of bird in the book that she lost her memory, if I remember correctly). Um, that's about it lol

Milipedes look like miniature Taxxons if you ask me.

I've seen a red tail and a northern harrier battling it out for territory above my school.

I wondered if Ax and Tobias got in a brawl or something :O

I always imagined the Veleek to be rather similar to Smokey from Lost, really.

Oh, nifty!

I've been making Animorphs connections left and right recently. Like in the True Blood finally, Sam says he has to imprint on an animal before he can turn into it. Also, in one of the episodes of the first season of Fringe there's a giant mutated cold virus that looks like a giant Yeerk.
