Thoughts on a certian aspect of the Ellimist Chronicles...
I've never read The Age of Spiritual Machines by Ray Kurzweil, but I was just looking it up because Our Lady Peace had an album sort of based off of it. So I was just curious. I was reading a plot summary type thing from Wikipedia here and it sounded sort of interesting, but mostly, it reminded me of the Ellimist. Maybe it's not the same thing though.
When I was younger and first read Ellimist Chronicles, I remember not liking it so much. The explanation for his transformation into some almost supernational being kind of went over my head, I think. It was just kind of like, "what?" and then I sort of forgot about it. I reread it recently though, and this time I understood more of what was going on.
But, has anybody else read this book Spiritual Machines? Does it make sense to you, and does it seem (at least maybe from the summary) seem like it could be describing that same sort of process?
I'm pretty much really reaching on a limb here, but perhaps I'd make more sense if I'd read that book. I just wanted to ask if anybody else here had, and if you agree that it sounds like it could be a similar concept to Ellimist Chronicles. *shrug* I was pretty much just asking to see if anybody had "Nah, not really" or "Mmm, could be," to offer.
