If I was an Animorph Id totally become a nothlit by the time I turned... say... 70, by aquiring some 16 year old (with their permission) and living life again. I wonder if Cassie wouldve ever thought of doing that. Prolly not eh.

Dude, I've been thinking about that, too!! Cassie has too high morals to resort to that kind of thing. The Animorph kid I could see doing that is Marco, or maybe Rachel if she hadn't... you know, kicked the can.

Cassie would have been like -GASPEVILNOTRIGHT-.

I liked her, but sometimes I thought she went a little too far with the whole "don't morph sentient creatures" thing. Like with the dolphins. I got exasperated.

That would be cool...morphing someone, and being able to re-do your life basically with the knowledge you had already gained.

Unless you asked the Ellimist nicely, and you know, saved a bunch of Hork Bajir or something.

I guess Cassie must feel a bit ripped off, I mean, Tobias got what he most wanted by guiding a couple of Hork Bajir to a hidden valley, and Cassie managed to find a way to start a Yeerk Peace Movement, end the war, and save the Taxxons and what did she get?

Blegh.

The way I see it she (and all the Animorphs) lost a lot. She saw her morals compromised, her best friend die, and her pseudo-boyfriend sink into some kind of vague depression. Maybe she isn't jealous, exactly, but I'm sure it did cross her mind at some point that Tobias is the only one who really got anything out of the whole Ellimist meddling thing from the Ellimist himself.

Are you saying that Tobias wouldn't have gotten anything from the Ellimist for the Hork-Bajir incident if he wasn't a nothlit?

Cassie became a Cabinet member at the age of about 19. That's pretty damn special. The Ellimist didn't come down and say, "KTHNX, HERE'S YOUR GIFT. IT'S THE NEW iMORPHINGCUBE," but Cassie did benefit in her own ways post-war.

I guess that's where you ask the question of whether the Ellimist had anything to do with their paths post-war. I'm more like "Well, Tobias got all this, but nobody else really got anything, but did as much/more. And nobody's like 'wow, look, how come he gets all that?'" than "Hey, the other Animorphs all ended up with nothing but a bunch of memories and train wrecks of lives."

I'm not saying that she is the type to wait around for the Ellimist - just had the passing thought that Tobias got all the Ellimist's "here have a reward" items and nobody else got anything but did much greater things - things that more directly impacted the war. Tobias had less to lose, lost pretty much all of it, but gained more (before his greatest loss) - Cassie had more to lose, lost a lot but not all of it, and pretty much ended up having to make the best of what she got after the war, with no help or thanks from the Ellimist.

Except, you can't really be even a little envious of a person who was the poster child for clinical depression even BEFORE he got trapped as a hawk and lost his girlfriend.

Or maybe that's just me?

I have no idea if it's just you or not but I think my personal position of being envious of the less fortunate is a little unusual. =)

I dunno, I don't think I could do do that. not just because you're taking on the form of some random kid forever, but you're living life over again, losing everything and everyone you had first time around. It just seems lonely.

Know what morph would totally suck to be a nothlit in? A baby Galapagos Tortise. Then you'd have to live out your life as a turtle, going super-slow and doing nothing... And you'd have to do it for 100+ years, because those things live for-freaking-ever.

Orr, you could morph a giant turtle. Those dudes live about a hundred years. x) Might be boring, but also pretty peaceful. Swim around and make fun of the fish.

But naw, I'd just let myself get old, I don't mind.

If someone were, however, to morph a human, I assume they'd do what Ax did and combine different DNAs to make a new identity. At least you wouldn't be a clone of anyone else. I still wouldn't do it though. It's really just trying to delay the inevitable, which will make you fear it all the more.

though, [livejournal.com profile] guabazaa has a point. :D Would be pretty cool just to have fun for a few years. I'd be a bird though, some big ole hawk or eagle.

Oh and I'd be a young girl. or a kitten. good way to live forever. But it seems Tobias is unhappy to be stuck as a hawk.

This topic is sorta reminiscient of Switchers.

I think it might be need to like, pick an animal to turn into then do the whole show business thing to finish it off.

Or just do that on the side for the first time around, take the money, then have your funds and start back over at like, 16, maybe 18 so your legal and you don't have to work really. Though there'd be all the legal things to work out if you chose a human.
