I didn't, because Rachel was my favorite character and therefore she couldn't. lol. I was convinced it was going to be Jake. In retrospect, as I've reread the series as an adult, it's quite obvious. Rather disappointing too, I think, because I would have been very curious to see what would have happened to her, as what she would have done after the war was far less obvious than for the others (of course, this was why she was the one to die).
Regarding the book- I love that their god-figure is basically a video game player with life. Awesome.
