Ax is slightly different to most Andalite warriors, though. He frequently acquires and uses Earth morphs, although not as many as the others do. He clearly sees the point of morphing and is willing to use it, perhaps more than other Andalites do.
It's possible, though, that most Andalites don't have anything around to acquire? Spaceships and all...
And I have to agree that their attitude towards the handicapped kind of bugged me. It's like they thought that losing a limb also removed a large portion of your brain or something.
