Intro, doujin, and some sketches.

I've been lurking on this community for months and I figure it's finally time I introduce myself. I am and will always be an Animorphs fan. It was my world when I got into it back in...oh, middle school, it must have been. I read every book religiously up till number 26, The Attack (the one where Jake and Cassie finally kissed, if y'all recall!), then sort of dropped off the bandwagon, only to later pick up the rest of the series while I was in college and read it all in about a week. It's such a fantastic YA book series, one of the very best of them. I never forgot the main six; they've lived in my head ever since I first read the books.

I'm twenty-two now, out of college, and I'm sure you all can understand my still being obsessed with the series, which brings me to the point of this post, aside from just introducing myself: for the past few months I've been writing and drawing an Animorphs doujinshi (i.e. fanmade comic). I should say right off the bat that I'm not a very good artist (really...really not) and that limits what I can do, but I'm a decent enough writer, I think, so the story at least is all right.

The doujin takes place in an alternate universe in which Rachel didn't die and the Yeerks won the war on Earth. The Animorphs have fallen apart; Ax, Cassie, and Marco are missing, possibly enslaved or dead, and Jake is in the custody of a mysterious human-Controller named Kennedy. The doujin follows Rachel and Tobias, now eighteen years old and possibly the only free Animorphs left. Rachel is determined to find Jake and kill Kennedy, while Tobias fears that Rachel is losing her humanity.

I don't know how far I'm going to draw it, but I'm determined to at least get through the first chapter. If anyone knows a better artist than me who would be interested in the project, do put me in touch with them. In the meantime, here are a couple of sketches of Rachel and Tobias (in human morph) from the doujin. I have a prologue done and I'm working on the first few pages of Chapter 1; if there's any interest in seeing more, I'll post some of the work.
