so in middle school, a handful of my friends and i discovered, more or less simultaneously, our immutable and unquenchable love, nay, ardor, for the entire andalite race.

seriously, we were like way gay for andalites.

i'm... i'm really not sure why. they're cool and all, but we really had kind of a problem.

anyhow in a pretty predictable manner we ended up creating our own characters and our own really extremely elaborate subplot which had more or less nothing to do with the canon animorphs story. it was this kind of andalite suffrage thing - i'm sure you can see where i'm going with that - which was enormously complicated and involved and had (as I found to my slight surprise upon revisting the story YEARS later) a really unnecessarily unhappy ending. the names we used for our own characters became pretty personal; my livejournal name is actually derived from mine, it's a handle i use pretty much universally even now, over a decade later.

anyway the point is that we should all just wank about andalites for a while, because my brain is still doused in candy sparkles whenever it wanders in that direction. THIS IS THE ANDALITE APPRECIATION STATION.

And I feel you on the handle-you-use-universally thing...mine didn't come from Animorphs, but it did come from a different fandom that I was in aaaages ago (I'll admit: it was for that teen EMT show that Chris Ralph and Shawn Ashmore were in after Animorphs ended!). And I like it because it's original, but whenever people ask me where it comes from, I have to go "Ummmmm. See...funny story." And it's seriously been, like, eight years since that show was cancelled. I REGET NOTHING.

The last time I was active for any fandom was Animorphs- I was/am even barely active for HP. So, no.. I just loved Christopher Ralph's character with all my 5' tall self and wished he could be mine.

I like the one sitting on his/her hind legs very much. ^^ And trust me, you're not the only one guilty of fanfiction. (I had an Anda-Sue that was...epic in her level of perfection. Yes, I truly thought I was being original. I still miss her.)

I wrote an Animorphs novel in seventh grade. For gifted&talented class.

Sometime, I'll scan in all of my assorted Animorphs stuff - the novel, my notebook of quotes, my letter from KA. ^_^

Man, I wish I knew about fandom way back when I first got into the series. Of course, maybe back then it wasn't very big? I dunno.

I had one friend that was into it, but then she fell out of it. I really don't have anyone to talk to about it. (But then I found this community, so yay!)

There is so much love for andalites. My second love are the hork-bajir.

I always thought they were probably the top most elegant-looking space aliens ever. Someday, I'm going to sculpt a little figurine of one, with an extra long tail looping around everywhere.

Grrrr.... The only picture of an andalite I currently have that I've drawn isn't in a place where I can get at it to scan it.

I had a group of friends that was really in to Animorphs. We used to joke about it being real, which is sort of where a story I once tried writing derived from. My main idea was the books were real, but so was the threat. I'm sure it's been done before, but I liked it. It was a flop, but I've started thinking about revisiting it... maybe modeling the group off my friend group more.

You know, I think these are pretty freaking awesome. I always HATED the Andalites in the book coverart (Except for on Visser that one was pretty sweet) because they always looked so...stiff. Not to mention the mutant vulvas they had for noses. I like yours way better.
