Animorphs re-read, book #19

I have been doing my own re-read of the series for the first time (I read each and every book when it was originally released) and this quote just stuck out, so I thought I would post it here.

"I guess sometimes you have to choose between smart, sane, ruthlessness, and totally stupid, insane hope," I said, not even realizing I was speaking out loud. "You can't just pick one and stick with it, either. Each time it comes up, you have to try and make your best decision. Most of the time, I guess I have to go with being smart and sane. But I don't want to live in a world where people don't try the stupid, crazy, hopeful thing sometimes."

When I did a series re-read, I wrote down my favorite quotes from each book. This exact one was one of mine from #19. Along with this one:

Tobias: "There's always a choice. I can't get mad at someone not wanting to take a life. I can't get mad at someone for thinking life is sacred. I just can't."

:)

I read the books as an adult and was still pretty blown away. :) I read them for the first time in my mid-twenties. I'm now in my early thirties and did a re-read of the entire series during the first couple months of this year. I made a website about each book as I read, which motivated me. One of the things I collected was favorite quotes.

I should note that your LJ name "Stargirl" makes me think of the Spinelli book (another of my favorites), and that your icon appears to be a Witch Baby reference. Are you me?

One of my favorite quotations from the whole series.

I like that quote except that it's used to rationalize and then justify the success of some of Cassie's worst ideas.

I like that quote a lot too. There's a lot of Jake quotes in particular that I love. The one from 16 sticks out too where he's all:

"What is the matter with people that they don’t know all that really counts is that people who love each other be able to be together, live in peace, learn, work, tell boring stories and dumb jokes? What do they think they’re going to get that is better than that?" ♥

If we're comparing favourite quotes, Elfangor's from #33 = "Out of respect for life, you have to endure" - has always been one of my faves.
