I don't think the people featured were intended to be Animorphs fans? Rather, just people or archetypes that I'm guessing the OP knew from highschool, played up of course.

Oh.... I didn't interpret it like that at all; I just thought they used Animorphs so they had a convenient framework for "morphing" a person from one thing to another.

I mean srsly; a lot of people who read Animorphs as kids (a book, and sci-fi at that!) probably grew up to be nerds. :P
